Abstract
This article examines the role of family business in the conditions of modern market relations. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the definitions of the content of the concepts “family entrepreneurship” and “handicraft” available in the scientific literature, new definitions have been developed, and several specific clarifications have been made to the economic functions of the family economy.
