Abstract
Distance education is one of the most promising and, perhaps, the most innovative direction in the field of education, due to the level of development of modern IT technologies. The rapid development of the Internet and information and communication technologies (ICT) contributes to the introduction of distance learning into the educational process. Thanks to new technologies, it became possible to learn foreign languages online. The article deals with the issues based in implementation of distance education in higher education and developing students’ linguistic competence.
